About the New England Dog Training Club
We welcome all dogs and their owners to come train with us!
We welcome purebred, mixed-breed, registered and non-registered dogs into all of our classes. We believe that positive, basic obedience training builds a relationship with your dog that allows clear communication and trust, and each of our classes works toward the goal of establishing and building that relationship in a fun and rewarding way.
NEDTC is a 501(c)3 non-profit obedience club dedicated to teaching people all aspects of dog training, and promoting responsible dog ownership.
AKC Competitive
We support the attainment of competition titles and promote advanced training for all of those who attend our training classes.
Our structure concentrates on AKC obedience events at all levels, the fundamentals of which are applicable to a variety of performance events, including agility. We encourage and support all dog sports, and offer a cooperative and supportive environment for all who want to further their relationship with their dog through obedience.
In order to meet these goals, NEDTC holds training classes for all levels of obedience beginning with Puppy Kindergarten. We hold one AKC sanctioned obedience trial per year and host seminars and events designed to both educate our membership and the public on all aspects of dog training and responsible dog ownership. We strive to promote a fun and encouraging training environment.
OLDEST EXISTING AKC OBEDIENCE CLUB IN THE COUNTRY
The New England Dog Training Club was founded in 1936 has a proud history going back to the beginning of obedience competition in the United States. Hans Tossuti, author and founder of both the New England and Philadelphia clubs, and Bert Turnquist, a pioneer author and trainer, were both early members.
